If you have decided to homeschool your child(ren) there are a few things that you need to do:
Print out or obtain a Home Education Program Affidavit. Complete the Home Education Program Affidavit and have it notarized.
Print out or obtain Secondary Home Education Program Objectives and/or Elementary Home Education Program Objectives.
Attach educational objectives to the Home Education Program Affidavit.
Deliver the notarized Home Education Program Affidavit and attached Home Education Program Objectives directly to your superintendent. (Getting a signed receipt for these documents will prove during any future interactions that such notification was made.) Make and keep copies prior to delivery for your own records.
After delivering the Home Education Program Affidavit and attached Educational Objectives, you can legally withdraw your child from school.
Obtain a copy of the Pennsylvania Home Education and Compulsory Attendance Law so that you may read, know and understand your parental rights under the School Code.
If you receive any negative contacts at all from your school district, contact and forward such negative contacts regarding your right to establish a home education program in compliance with the Pennsylvania Compulsory Attendance law to both your state representative and state senator for assistance.
The Pennsylvania Home Education Law gives you the right to begin a home education program in Pennsylvania at any time. Your school district may not forbid, or disapprove your Home Education Program. School district policy does not supercede State Law. You do not have to have your curriculum purchased or planned before enrolling your child in a Home Education Program. You do not have to generate lesson plans. There are also requirements at the end of the school year (June 30) and can be found in the Home Education Law.
