The Penn Homeschoolers Statewide Email Conference is Pennsylvania's largest, oldest, non-commercial and inclusive online Christian statewide support group. Communication takes place through email delivered as it is contributed by list members. Since 1996 those that have joined pa-hs have found support, encouragement, events, advice, information, politics, empowerment, and even controversy. Pa-hs members are recognized across the Commonwealth for being activists and for having a keen interest in current events and all issues that effect home education. The ability to solicit input from home educators from across the state at a moment's notice is a notable characteristic of this statewide group. State Legislators invited pa-hs co-ordinators to be part of the process that resulted in the introduction of HB 2560 in early 2002, the first and most recent attempt to bring freedom and excellence back to the home education law.
Pa-hs members take their responsibility to reach out to others in Christian love and support very seriously. Members help to find evaluators, testing sources, attorneys, expert witnesses to testify at child custody hearings, support groups, tutors, learning co-operatives and documentation needed for their home education programs. First hand experience from long-time homeschoolers members of pa-hs can be invaluable in finding the information one needs to establish a home education program. The vibrant, exciting exchange between newer, younger homeschoolers along with those who are considering homeschooling brings freshness and relevance to all discussions.
