"Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds;...Teach them to your children..." Deuteronomy 11:18a and 19b, the Word of God given to the people by the prophet Moses
The Pennsylvania Home Education Law requires an annual evaluation for students enrolled in a home education program who are of compulsory school age. Home education evaluations are provided at no cost to members of the McKeesport Area Homeschoolers and the members of the McKeesport Area Homeschoolers Enrichment Classes. Home Education program evaluations can also be arranged for non-members for under $15 per child. Distance evaluations can also be performed. Contact CPEC to arrange evaluations for your children or for your support group.
Though not required by the Pennsylvania Home Education law, detailed, encouraging, expert home education consultations can be performed by experienced, degreed, and certified Christian teachers who are fully supportive of homeschooling in all of its forms and manifestations. Our trained and qualified consultants base their educational philosophy on Biblical teaching. Consultations can be extremely valuable to parents/guardians who must defend their educational option of homeschooling/private tutoring/cyberschooling in court during custody hearings. Consultations can also focus on choices of curriculum and educational methods. Consultations can put you in touch with local homeschooling support groups, evaluators, testing services, attorneys, curriculum suppliers, those offering instruction to homeschoolers, and college admissions personnel. Consultations can also help college applicants develop the transcripts needed for college admittance. Contact CPEC to arrange a home education consultation. The Pennsylvania Home
Education Law requires that the results of a nationally-normed Standardized Achievement test
be included in the year-end portfolios of those students in grades 3, 5 and 8. CPEC
currently offers the WRAT test for as little as $10 per child. This test is especially
appropriate for students who are not yet reading and can be administered one-to-one or in a
small group setting. Contact CPEC to arrange testing.
Assessments are not
required by the Pennsylvania Home Education law. But an assessment may meet the needs
of parents who wish to enroll or re-enroll their children in a public or non-public school
setting. Assessments can support the parents' determination of grade-level and
requests for special educational services.
Assessment costs are determined on a case-by-case basis.
Contact CPEC to arrange an assessment.
Advocacy services are
available through CPEC for those parents/guardians who feel as if they need supportive,
non-legal yet professional representation with Social Services, School Districts and other
agencies or agents of local municipalities or the Commonwealth. A CPEC advocate can be
present at school district IEP meetings, truancy court hearings and other events to be an
encouragement and support for parents and their children.
Contact CPEC to arrange advocacy services.
Expert witness services are
available through CPEC for those who require the legal or public testimony regarding home
education, private tutoring, and charter school issues. CPEC expert witnesses are
available to State and National legislatures and to the court system. CPEC expert
witnesses can provide the documentation, research and educational expertise to school
districts, school solicitors and other bodies that are establishing policy on home education
issues. CPEC expert witnesses can be especially helpful to those parents who need
expert advocacy in family court to defend their right to maintain a home education program.
Contact CPEC to arrange expert witness services.
Expert, Godly, experienced
and trained speakers can be featured at your homeschooling event. CPEC will provide
speakers on a wide variety of home education topics who will be an
encouragement and energizer to those members in your group. CPEC speakers are
recognized in their areas of expertise and able to share their
faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Costs for such speakers are minimal, in most instances
there is no charge. Contact CPEC to arrange
for one or more CPEC speakers for your group. Every parent in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has the right to educate their children at home. The Christian Parent Educators Consortium, Inc. is a non-profit organization that exists to disseminate accurate, factual and up-to-date information on home education and to equip and encourage parents to establish a home education program. The Christian Educators Consortium (CPEC) is Bible-based and distinctly Christian in mission. This mission includes providing information and assistance to home educators of all faiths in the spirit of unity and truth.
